Are vitamins for acne really a true, natural way to treat your acne?
Many experts state that you start the treatment of acne from the inside out and using topical treatments such as Proactiv acne solution, Murad acne treatment, or others will only treat the symptoms and not get to the root of the problem.

Personally, I have to agree to this statement for the most part.
Perhaps I just never found my perfect vitamins for acne mix, but it wasn’t
until I began treating my acne on the inside AND on the outside did I win the war!

Well, let’s discuss the use of vitamins for the treatment of acne.
The fact is most people are deficient in vitamins, minerals, and other vital nutrients to our overall health.

It is also tough to get the proper diet (not just the acne diet) on a daily basis with our hectic lives, so using vitamin supplements is a great way to add what is lacking.

The key to all this for not only overall health, but also vitamins for acne and skincare is WHAT VITAMINS will do the job?

Reviews of the top acne vitamins that may assist in the treatment & prevention of acne…

The vitamins and minerals listed here are powerful antioxidants that flush out free radicals and toxins from your body. Some even have antibacterial effects and promote immunity. This is so important in keeping your pores clean of clogging toxins and in healing the damaged skin tissue.

*Vitamin A group: This stuff works great to strengthen the skin and help prevent acne. We have found research that indicates an upwards of 10 IU as the recommended dosage. Believe it or not, the root of Accutane is a vitamin A derivative (the natural source can provide a safe alternative to Accutane – carotene form). You should also add vitamin A to assist with flushing the system to get rid of toxins. There are a number of foods you can also eat that offer substantial sources of vitamin A including, carrots, broccoli, and spinach.

*Vitamin B family: Vitamin B (there are multiple numbers – 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6) has been shown to provide a healthy skin tone, work with vitamin A to offer up healthy skin, hair, and nails. Plus, various parts of this complex helps to reduce stress, provide energy by assisting your body with the metabolism process, and help with your immune system. Instead of boring you with science, the key is to take these vitamins for acne together and be sure to find these ingredients: thiamine, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, and cyanocobalamin.

*Next let’s discuss vitamin C. This wonderful antioxidant does a number of excellent jobs for your body. Not only does vitamin C help with your immune system, but it is also great for tissue growth and repair (hence our skin is made up of a lot of tissue).

*I have read that zinc works wonders on acne fighting. Personally, I never used it as it has been seen to be great for scar tissue assistance and prevention. This may is one mineral you may want to add to your regimen.

*Vitamin E is yet another vitamin that has been seen to assist with skincare healing. As an antioxidant, both the topical version and internal version can help with tissue repair and skin revitalization.
There have been many different minerals and vitamins for acne treatment that have shown to work wonders for many folks.

Throughout my acne battle, I had to find a combination of vitamins, minerals, skincare products, acne treatments, and other items that finally help me get rid of acne forever.

Everything we discuss here are true accounts of either my life’s battle with acne or others. You can and will get rid of your acne.  Stick around and learn more.

Acne diets? Does eating specific food cause or help prevent acne?

That is the question we need to answer. Although labeled as one of the acne myths, I can tell you
from personal experience that eating healthy not only made me feel better, but it assisted
in keeping the breakouts low.

Also, I can tell you that certain foods seemed to make me break out more often. Coincidence?
Perhaps? However, let’s dig a little deeper into acne diets and see if they can help as one of the
natural acne cures.

Q: Does diet play a role with acne?

Per the experts, acne is not caused by food and following a certain diet will not clear your skin. While some people feel that their acne is aggravated by certain foods, particularly chocolate, colas, peanuts, shellfish and some fatty foods, there is no scientific evidence that suggests food causes or influences acne. Our advice is to avoid the foods that you feel worsen your acne situation and it’s only good sense to eat healthy foods that will aid in your internal and external health (including your skin).

On the other hand, here is what other experts have said:

For years, the common belief was diet had absolutely no effect on acne. Turns out, it may have been wrong. After an extensive study, researchers believe carbohydrates with a high glycemic index, which cause glucose and insulin levels to spike, may influence the development and severity of acne. Conversely, a diet high in protein and carbohydrates with a low glycemic index seemed to improve acne breakouts.

They do state that more acne diets research needs to be done, but these findings are certainly interesting as this challenges all prior belief - well we did once think the earth was flat right?

Q: What should I eat and/or avoid when trying to treat my acne?

*Less dairy - cheese especially seemed to have an effect on me.

*Less grains - these apparently affect mineral absorption.

*Caffeine and chocolate - eat less or none of these. Coffee never bothered me, but soda certainly did.

*High sugar foods should be avoided.

*Acidic foods seem to help with breakouts

*Protein - this includes meats, beans, chicken, fish, etc…

*Fruits - Apples are supposed to work well.

Q: So, is diet alone going to clear your acne?

Probably not, but it will help you in the short run and long run throughout your system. You will feel better, have more energy, and hopefully your skin will look and feel clean and clear!

Q: So, what is the best way to treat acne?

We have found that a combination of things assist in helping your acne. Acne diets, a skin care regimen, an acne treatment, and other things that you must do to keep your skin clear of stinking acne. You may want to consider a system flush and trying water filtration.

We hope this sheds some light on whether acne diets do you any good when trying to battle acne. It seems to play a role one way shape of form. Good luck!

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E has always been recommended for acne and the oil tends to be a great treatment for any future scarring. The downside to using Vitamin E oil is that if it works at all, it takes quite a bit of time. Perhaps combining it with other acne products mentioned would be the way to go.

Tea Tree Oil

Oily skin is a big issue for both adults and teenagers alike. So acne skin care as well as pimple treatment is very essential. If oily skin is not treated properly , it will develop an excessive shine, blemishes and pimples. Here are some guidelines:

Cleansing the skin

Cleanse at least two times a day but do not rub hard . A minor pressure from your finger’s friction is adequately to make light of the dead and dull skin. This will avoid clogging of the pores. The correct and balanced way to clean the skin is the usage of a very mild detergent or surfactant. It should not contain oils or other fatty substances. Apply yield containing small amounts of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) on a regular basis to accomplish the best results.

Keep away from tough alcohol based products. With the use of alcohol-based substances, you may experience that the products remove huge amount oil from your face. But it actually enhances more production of sebum. You can make use of soft astringent or toner everyday to clear surplus oils on your face.

There are many natural skin care methods for them. Everyday moisturizing is not needed for oily skin. Apply a light, oil free moisturizer to balance the drying effects of the toner and cleanser. Skin products that comprise substances such as cocoa butter and mineral oils are too emollient for the form of your skin. So, stay away from these products. Select oil-free products for makeup, particularly for blush and foundation . Opt for non-comedogenic and water-based goods that will not clog up the pores. Some types of foundation products are intended to absorb oil and thus control the shiny exterior throughout the day.

In addition to the above, remember to apply non-oil based sunscreen on your face. In the case of sunscreen, there are a number of choice forms. Gel is one of the popular options as it is less oily than other conventional sun block lotions. Your sunscreen should be no less than Sun Protection Factor 15. If you are suffering from a harsh breakout of acne, utilize cleansers that hold a very small quantity of salicylic acid. In this case, a moisturizer containing the same material is the best choice.

Diet

Diet has strong influence for a healthy skin which plays an important role in natural skin care treatment. As processed foods, sugar and refined starches have a tendency to make the naturally oily skin worse , so avoid them. Look for food items that are low in fat and devour more fresh vegetables, fruits and grains. Drink lot of water (six to eight glasses a day), juice or teas to keep fine skin tone. Maintain your vitamins and minerals consumption, especially vitamins A and C as well as B complex.

Don’t wait any longer and get rid of acne forever!

Zits - is there any way to avoid them during those delicate teenage years? Maybe, if you’re lucky. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you’ve turned 20 and left the teens behind that you’re immune from acne. People of all ages want - and unfortunately need - to know how to get rid of pimples.

Is Getting Rid Of Acne Always Difficult?

Although there are a few lucky ones, virtually all teenagers have to deal with zits, blackheads and other skin blemishes at some point during their lives. Some have it worse than others. I can remember being a teen and trying a number of acne treatment products to clear up my face. Some of them worked really well and others didn’t do a thing. Finally figuring out how to get rid of pimples was incredibly empowering.

It wasn’t so easy for some of the other kids, though. A few of them had their parents take them to a doctor for advice and treatment. Sometimes with prescription acne medications they were able to successfully control their acne. Most of the time, however, they still had quite a time of it. Although the prescribed treatments would usually help, they didn’t always provide the cure these teens were so desperately hoping for.

While some of these kids grew out of their acne problems, others continued to struggle. And unfortunately, in cases of severe and chronic acne, scars are often left behind long after the zits are cleared up. Acne scarring is often a constant reminder of the skin troubles faced during youth.

One of the best ways to avoid this hurtful scarring is to get a handle on acne as soon as possible. And, as already discussed, it is easier for some than for others. However, some folks have found that conventional treatments aren’t always the best way to handle a problem. Learning how to get rid of acne naturally has proven to be highly effective for a growing number of sufferers.

Approaching acne skin care treatment holistically has proven a smart move for these former sufferers. And it makes sense if you think about it. After all, few can argue with the fact that our outward appearance is merely a reflection of what’s going on inside our body. A variation on the old saying ‘you are what you eat’, anything and everything you put into your body has an effect on the ultimate appearance of your skin.

Now, it’s not always fair because there are certain people who can eat any type of food and it never shows up on their skin. It’s the same way with weight gain, isn’t it? The fact is, some people are more sensitive to some factors than others. But, by treating acne at the root cause in a natural way, more teens and adults can enjoy clear, healthy skin and prevent future scarring at the same time.

Acne treatment and prevention is a long-term process which means you will need to make certain things part of your normal daily routine for maximum results.

There are many products available for acne treatment and there is no reason not to research and find out which one will work best for you. Regardless of the cause, there will be an acne treatment available; you will just have to decide which is best for you.

Acne treatment and skin care products claim to cure acne and each brand claims superiority over the other. Instead of having you dig deeper into your pocket for various types of expensive acne treatment remedies, you should, initially, attempt to fight acne naturally by avoiding clogging your pores.

The problem is a lot of people aren’t aware of natural acne treatments. I found that when acne broke out on my face the most effective method at the time was to gently, and I repeat - gently - wash the acne area twice a day with warm water and soap.

I tried to be proactive in my acne treatment. When that didn’t work, I visited my doctor, who prescribed me various acne treatments, many of which had varying degrees of success.

Physically it is difficult to cleanse and apply back acne treatments; treatment of back acne needs special care as it mostly gets noticed in acute stages. Just like with any other form of acne, the right treatment for back acne is not easy to find.

All home made acne treatments should be strictly followed for over a period of time. As you can see, even with prescriptions, it takes time for acne treatments to take effect.

Zinc has shown remarkable results in clearing acne. Acutance is one of the most potent conventional acne remedies ever developed that virtually eliminates your problem. Bergamot oil is one of many acne remedies that have been around for a long time.

Laser acne treatments, when performed by licensed doctors, help in the complete obliteration of scars that result from severe acne. With so many commercial anti-acne medications to choose from, how do you know which medications are the best acne treatments. Keep in mind that even if you have tried several different acne treatments to no avail, there is always something else to try for your acne.

Here’s a great article on how to get rid of acne scars

There are more skin care tips than ever before, and there are hundreds of products on the market, either over-the-counter topical acne treatments or prescribed acne medications. Externally, herbs have been used to treat acne, blemishes, wounds, dysentery, and diarrhea. Be assured, scientists are constantly looking at new non-invasive ways to treat acne.

It is also advisable to opt for natural acne treatments, which are really effective on your body and have no side effects. Antioxidants, like Vitamin C, E and Alpha Lipoic Acid, are very helpful in clearing acne, Along with acne clearing masks.

If you see no improvement using natural acne products, you should try one of the other popular acne remedies such as Proactiv, which is probably the most common acne treatment worldwide. Another great weapon against acne breakouts is the “Acne Free in 3 Days” Product, which has been proven to cure most cases of acne within a small 3 day period.

Editors Note: Acne free in 3 days is a system flush type situation where you go on a specific diet in order to clear your acne and your system. Our recommendation is to read reviews regarding this system before purchasing anything. However, natural treatments should be used as they tend to be great for your skin and body.

As we all know (or most of us), nowadays our physical appearance has become the main factor that is taken in consideration when we come in contact with people. Unfortunately, for many people it’s the way we look physically and not who we are as human beings that’s more important. This problem is even more evident among teenagers. Physical appearance is something that, without doubt, places a lot of pressure on teens and continues to affect them as they grow to become adults. And this importance of “physical appearance” takes on a whole new level when a person suffers from a physically altering condition such as acne.

Acne is one of the most widespread physical skin conditions that affects not only teens but adults as well. There are many different types of acne, and although there are also many different treatments that have been developed to fight acne, there’s still the need to find a definitive cure for it. However, aside from treating the physical appearance caused by acne, there’s something worst that’s caused by this horrible skin disorder. What happens when people suffering from acne is affected psychologically, and may shy away from attending social events with friends or colleagues because of how it makes them feel? How could they cope with that!

Again, this is a problem that can become even stronger among teens. The reason for this is that as teens are still developing a strong sense of who they are, the experience of being neglected could become a very important turning point that will certainly affect who they turn out to be as adults. But it does not stop there. It has been reported that many adults feel the same psychological effects of acne, and say it makes them feel ugly and undesirable in appearance.

Some studies have shown that psychological effects of such conditions can lead to depression, eating disorders, and social anxiety. And while this often starts during adolescence, these psychological effects can carry over as adults, resulting in even more serious psychological problems. So, is there anything that can be done to prevent this from occurring?

Well, there are some things acne sufferers do to try to cope with possible psychological problems. Many acne sufferers seek coverage that will hide their acne, usually in the form of a cream concealer or makeup. These products can be purchased over-the-counter, and do a good job covering up most mild to moderate acne. For more severe cases however, a doctor can prescribe something to conceal this condition.

Also, even though it has been reported that diet plays but a small role in the causes of acne, there may be certain foods that influence breakouts. If you are one who feels this may be affecting your acne, the best recommended tip is to stay away from those foods that seem to be causing the problem, and see if that helps you. It is considered that diet could play a larger role in adult acne than in teen acne, so it doesn’t hurt to start early.

Another factor that may play a role in self-esteem, especially in teens, is the misconception that acne is caused by having unclean skin. While this isn’t true, it could cause acne sufferers to become more anxious about how others view them, which can cause self-esteem to drop.

Something you should keep in mind is that in order to feel better about yourself you first need to feel better about your acne. And in order to accomplish the latter, you must treat your acne of course. This may be something you can do on your own, or it may require the help of a physician. Either way, try to find a treatment that works for you. If you are feeling anxious and depressed about your condition, feel free to talk to your doctor about these feelings and what you can do to alleviate them. Even if you aren’t sure, it can be a good idea to seek medical attention for your acne. And even if prescription medications aren’t necessary, a doctor can help you find a treatment that works best for you, and you will be on your way to recovery.

Another reason to see a doctor is that, as we mentioned earlier, teens who suffer from acne early on can usually expect it to worsen as they get older, and even continue on into adulthood. This could certainly lead to more severe types of acne. Therefore, the sooner you seek medical attention, the chances of you suffering of worst physical effects like acne scarring will be minimum. And this undoubtedly could mean even greater psychological effects.

Hector Morales is the owner of the Exclusive Skin Care Acne Tips Site. Check it out to learn about the causes of acne, how to get rid of acne, and other info on acne.

Throughout the years there have been several myths about the causes of acne that have created more confusion than an answer to the real cause of this devastating skin condition. Having a clear understanding about the causes of acne is a very important part in the battle against this skin problem. However, knowing about what doesn’t cause acne can be just as important as what causes it. So, it is important to learn about some of the common myths surrounding acne to get rid of the misconceptions they provoke wich could lead you into the wrong path towards recovery.

Let’s start with the “Tan Myth”. Many people have been told that acne can be cleared up by the application of a tan. Although a tan may help cover the redness caused by acne, in reality it won’t heal or prevent it after all. The are many risks involved with getting a tan. When you mix tanning beds and the sun, there’s a great possibility of damaging your skin. So, this is a complete myth - a tan is not a solution for acne; this could only cause more problems to your skin condition than helping it cure.

Another myth that you might have taken as a fact has to do with washing your face. If you have been washing your face several times a day hoping to reduce the number of breakouts you usually experience then you are taking part of a myth. I’m not saying that this natural skin care treatment is bad, not at all. In fact, washing your face helps get rid of oil and excess dirt, and removes dry skin (which can clog pores and cause acne). However, the problem comes when you start washing your face too often. Over washing your face can remove some of the essential oils found in your skin; and doing so will cause your face to become especially dry and irritated. It doesn’t mean that these effects will cause acne directly but they undoubtedly will contribute to keep your acne from healing.

Don’t pop those pimples! The general belief that popping pimples will help them clear up more quickly is just another common acne myth. While popping your pimples can, in a way, make them seem less noticeable, in the end this practice can actually prolong the healing process. The reason of this consequence is that when you pop a pimple you’re actually pushing the bacteria from it deeper into the skin, as a result this causes the surrounding area to become red and irritated. And although there are some devices (such as blackhead extractors) that can help pop your pimples without causing this side effect, they are not a safe recommedation either for they can cause the formation of scars.

Another myth that you might have heard about acne involves the use of makeup and shaving. They say that if you want to have a clear healthy skin, you must not wear makeup or shave. But the fact of the matter is: there is not a problem in using products that are noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. These types of products are designed to avoid the clogging of pores and cause breakouts. Nowadays, there are also some concealers containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in them which are especially created to help fight acne.

The above are but a small number of myths related to acne and its causes. To be able to treat acne, it is important to learn about its possible causes beforehand. Having this knowledge will give you a better idea of what’s best for the type of acne you suffer. However, in case you are not sure regarding your acne causes and what treatment could be the best to treat it, you are more than advised to consult a dermatologist for the best medical attention.

Which Prescription acne treatment is best?

You’ve tried a number of over-the-counter acne products and they’ve had minimal affects at best.

You believe that you should consult a physician to see if there is a stronger treatment that may help clear your acne.

Before heading off to your doctor, please review the below acne medications that may be offered.  After you do that, review the acne products we recommend on this site, and determine if visiting a doctor is the right move.

Please note:  We are not doctors, so this is for informational purposes only and also a combination of acne treatments (both prescription and non-prescription) may be your best course of action.

Plus, it is always a good idea to consult a professional before beginning any acne treatment program.

Here is a list of the prescription acne treatment and medications that may work for you…

Differin or Adapalene:  A topical medication that is utilized to help your skin renew itself.  Aside from insurance flipping the bill, Differin is quite affordable and does a good job.  It worked mildly for me.  I ended up using it more for a spot treatment than rubbing it all over my face and it was very difficult using it on my back.  It may make your skin dry and tends to be a longer-term treatment.  Just depends on your skin type and acne severity.

Benzoyl Peroxide:  This is the ingredient you may find in many over-the-counter products as well.  The combination of this product with others is what tends to make it work.  It works to fight the bacteria that may cause your breakouts.  Can dry your skin out, but does work.  Also, a very affordable acne treatment.

Many young ladies get on birth-control pills which seem to not only prevent pregnancy, but also acne.  However, after review, using birth control pills as a prescription acne treatment shouldn’t be the main focus of these drugs.

Accutane or Isoretinoin:  A powerful prescription acne treatment, Accutane is typically only administered in severe cases and typically as a last resort.  It treats your acne from the inside out and is taken in pill form.  It works quite well, but not for everyone and brings with it some rather nasty side-effects in some cases.  Personally, I used it and it worked wonders, but it is not for everyone and is very expensive. Read my acne story here.

Retin-A or Tretinoin: A vitamin-A derivative, this is another great prescription acne treatment that battles whiteheads and blackheads by producing new skin cells.  This treatment brings the pimples out, so be aware that your acne may get worse before it gets better. Can be drying, create very sensitive skin, and only tends to work in mild to moderate cases of acne.    Very popular treatment by Dermatologists and worked wonders for many acne sufferers I know.

This is just a start to prescription acne treatment medications.  There are other oral and topical antibiotics that your specialist may recommend.  You may also want to ask them about good soaps, nutrition, and other over-the-counter treatments to combine with any prescription (plus if it’s safe).

Read our best acne cure article for pros and cons of different treatments.

Do your own homework and ask many of the other acne sufferers (including me) specific questions.  We’re here to help ensure you don’t live with acne any longer than necessary.
